Freedom, Karaitiana and Mahia have been reading the book "The Boat".
After we read the book, we created boats like the boats in the book. We used cardboard boxes, string and coloured paper.
Stevie-Ray from Te Tahuna class helped us. Here he is with Mahia.

Art: Matariki Stars

Matariki Stars
To celebrate Matariki this year we made stars. First we dyed our background paper and then we decorated stars with black pens.

Hiwi the Kiwi show

The Minstrel and his wife came to our school last week to teach us about  staying safe when we go fishing and how to care for Te Moana

We learnt to wear a life jacket and everyone needs to wear a life jacket.

Matariki trip to the Treaty Grounds

The lovely people who work at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds invited us to take part in their Matariki learning week.
Freedom and Karaitiana after we had learnt about our beautiful waka (Ngatokimatawhaorua).

Whaea Shari teaching us about how to plant native trees.

There are signs in the bush to show us the planting Paihia School pupils have done each year.

This year's Paihia School sign.

It was a beautiful, sunny day.
