Saving our Kiwi

Yesterday Stella came to teach us about how we can help to save kiwi from predators. We learnt so much. Stella is an amazing teacher. We wrote about what she taught us.

Play dough words and letters

We have new play dough in Te Awa. We are using it to make letters and words. 
We read the book "going to the beach". We are learning to read and write the word go.
We are also learning to write an uppercase and lower case iI.

Magnetic words

We have been reading the Greedy Cat books by Joy Cowley. There are a lot of words in the pictures made out of magnetic letters. We have been making our own magnetic words.

Learning about the letter K

This week we have been learning how to say the sound of K and how to write the letter K.
Today Stephen's Mum gave use some kiwifruit to try. They were red inside and were delicious.

Mothers Day writing

Today we wrote Mother's Day cards.
We hope our Mum's like them this Sunday.

Visiting Author

Today we were visited by author Jennifer Somervell. She read us two of her stories (The Day Dad Blew up the Cowshed and A Very Greedy Tale).
A Very Greedy Tale was about two pet pigs who escaped their pig pen to search for food. We acted the story out. George was the actor chosen from our class.

 Te Awa students listened very well! George, Nikau, Stephen, Phoenix, Matiu, Will.

 Justin and George were in charge of the electric fence. Kyle was one of the pigs.

Shirley's Farewell

Today we had a farewell assembly for our Librarian and Teacher Aide SHIRLEY KINGI. Shirley has worked at Paihia School for twenty one years. We are all going to miss her.

 Everyone wrote a message or memory for Shiley on these colourful feathers.

We had a delicious shared lunch with Shirley.
